Board promotes solid waste attendant

Longtime solid waste attendant Jannelle Pederson has been promoted to supervisor at the main solid waste transfer station in Park Rapids.
She was selected from among several applicants for the position and reports to interim solid waste director Jed Nordin.
The county board made the appointment official at Tuesday’s meeting.
In other business, the board:
n Approved a bid of liquid calcium chloride of $555,076. The county spreads it on gravel roads to prolong their usefulness. Funds will come from State Aid and the county.
Approved a bid of $100,897 plus licensing and sales tax for a 2015 Mack snow plow, with a trade-in of a 1989 International plow. The board also approved the purchase of two pickups by Natural Resources Management. The purchase price was $52,000.
n Approved purchase of a Taurus sedan and three SUV Ford Explorers for $105,000 for the Sheriff’s Department. The department will also spend $53,291 to detail the vehicles.
n Heard that income maintenance caseloads stabilized as of January with a slight decrease in people requesting public assistance.
