Blueberry Township conservation funds available for lake projects
Applications are now being accepted for the Blueberry Township $10,000 Conservation Fund dollars. The money is to be used for projects that benefit the Natural Resources located in Blueberry Township. Creation of the fund was the result of residents asking if the township could help with the almost overwhelming costs of treating the invasive curly leaf pond weed found in Blueberry and Twin Lakes. Because other conservation projects may also need funds, an application process has been established. Recent grants have funded curly leaf treatment and assisted Stocking Lake in septic surveys.
Funds are available only to organizations and a 3:1 (Township/Organization) match is required. Projects must result in direct benefit to Blueberry Township. Applications will be reviewed by a citizen committee which will make recommendations for funding to the board at the February 13th regular meeting. Recipients will be notified at the Annual Town Meeting on March 9th, 2010.
Applications are available by contacting Kari Tomperi, Blueberry Township Clerk at 218-564-5335, mailing a request to Blueberry Township P.O. Box 348 Menahga, MN 56464 or by electronic e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications must be submitted by February 10th, 2005.
