Members of the Park Rapids Area Ministerium hosted a National Day of Prayer on the courthouse lawn Thursday. "We are blessed to be in a country with freedom of gathering," Scott Stewart reminded his audience. Points of prayer, led by area ministers, were government, the military, media, business, education, church and family. "I wish we didn't need the military," Tim Wilson of Assembly of God said.

"And I wish dandelions didn't grow," he added, drawing chuckles. "Ten years ago, war here became a reality...It's right to pray for those who fight for our freedom." Dick Jorgensen reminded that given our freedom of speech, "we can be spokesmen for people around the world."
