Birthday motorcycle ride becoming a tradition
Percy Anderson celebrated his 94th birthday with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle ride, courtesy of his close friend Mark Grotte. Born in 1918, Percy was drafted into the Army in 1941, where he was assigned to the 31st Infantry Division as a combat engineer. As a part of the 31st Division, he was present during the Battle of Morotai in the Netherland's East Indies, which stretched the last year of WWII. Percy saw his fair share of action while there. In the confusion of frenzied transportation, Percy fell out of the truck and was mistakenly left behind. Just as he was setting up camp for the night, a Japanese aircraft dropped a series of bombs on the island, one of which landed almost 50 feet in front of him. Today, Percy is living at his home where he spends his time constructing miniature drivable tractors.
