For the Birds to land in Park Rapids, Menahga
With Minnesota charm, delight and musical adventure, For the Birds unites the creativity of the Twin Cities' music and arts community in a combination of new music, poignant stories, verbal artistry and innovative direction.
The high-flying show will land in both Menahga and Park Rapids Saturday, July 7.
For the Birds will perform at 2 p.m. at the Menahga School and at 7:30 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids.
Admission is $3 or a canned food item.
The chamber work, which debuted in 2010 and has since entertained audiences across Minnesota, highlights St. Paul-based music champions Zeitgeist, with stories and poetry by humorist, writer and narrator Kevin Kling and music by composer Victor Zupanc of the Children's Theater Company.
"For the Birds truly takes flight on the wings of fancy and the amazing creativity of Minnesota artists and musicians," said Heather Barringer, artistic co-director and percussionist for Zeitgeist. "We enjoy sharing the charm of Minnesota and the talents of the writers, composers and musicians we have the wonderful fortune to work with.
"The Zeitgeist mission is to enliven today's music and expand its public with performances that engage, stimulate and hearten." Members are Barringer, percussion; Patti Cudd, percussion; Pat O'Keefe, woodwinds; Shannon Wettstein, piano. For more information, visit www.zeitgeistnew music.org.
