Beverly (Davis) Romer, of Nevis, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, after a long battle against breast cancer.

The only child of Donald and Mona (Dawson) Davis, Bev was born on Nov. 24, 1939 in Walker. She graduated from Nevis High School in 1957.

She was married to Ronald Romer in 1957 until their divorce in 1989. She lived in Kearny, Ariz., Glencoe and Watertown, Denver and Colorado Springs, Colo.; then moved back to Buffalo and finally returning to her hometown of Nevis in 2000 to assist her aging mother and aunt Ester Dawson.

Bev worked for 14 years as a church secretary in Fountain, Colo. She was active in the Church of Christ in Nevis and the Nevis Senior Center. She volunteered at Park Rapids' St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary and Spiritual Care.

She served as a member of the Nevis City Council for 6 years, and the Nevis School Ready program. She loved to sing and often sang in church choirs wherever she lived. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, volunteering, and visiting family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Donald and his wife Jean of Delano, Duane and his wife Stephanie of Midland, Mich. and David and his wife Peggy of Bolingbrook, Ill.; grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Zachary, Shane, Megan and Leah Romer; great-grandchildren Anthony and William; cousin, Shirley (Dawson) Martin of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; and cousin, Wendy (Kelsey) Holsapple and her husband Levi of Akeley.

Bev is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Mona Davis; cousins, Carol (Dawson) Kelsey, Lloyd Dawson and aunt Ester Dawson.

Bev will be missed by her family and her many, many friends.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at Nevis Church of Christ. Pastor Paul Bowles and Pastor T. Wayne Douglas will co-officiate.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 30, Cease Funeral Home in Nevis, also one hour prior to the services at the church.

Inurnment: Lakeview Cemetery at Nevis.
