Beverly J. Bedsted, 88, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Park Rapids, from the effects of Alzheimer's.

She was born Feb. 21, 1926 to Lawrence and Vera (Johnson) Fjelsted of Colfax, Wis. Beverly attended school in Colfax until 1939 when she moved with her family to Cameron, Wis. There she graduated from high school in 1943.

Beverly attended the University of Wisconsin - Stout (then Stout Institute) where she received her bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education in 1947. That same year she married Lee Bedsted, and in 1950 they moved to Austin, Minn. where they lived for 33 years. In Austin they raised their four children, Greg, Terri, Jon and Chris.

After her husband's re-tirement in 1983 they moved to their summer cabin on Long Lake near Park Rapids. Winters were spent in Florida, Arizona and Texas. Beverly could often be seen reading a novel, solving a crossword puzzle, or stitching one of her extraordinary needle-work creations.

Beverly is survived by three sons, Gregory (Barbara) of Stillwater, Jonathan (Krissa) of Plainview, Christopher (Cindi) of Lino Lakes; a daughter, Teresa (Rodney) Stoltz of Winona; grandchildren, Jess and Connor Stoltz, Chris, Heidi and Bobby Bedsted, and Greg, Meghan, and Caleb Bedsted; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Wiesner, of Rice Lake, Wis.

Beverly's wish was to be cremated.

Memorial service: will take place in the spring.

Inurnment: inurned in the spring at Bethel Lutheran Cemetery south of Dorset.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Diamond Willow Assisted Living for their thoughtful, gentle, and compassionate care of Beverly.
