The Bemidji Police Department Animal Control shot a young bear Wednesday morning in the Wood Avenue Southeast area of Nymore.

The recommendation from the police department if a bear enters a residential area is to leave it alone and it will usually depart on its own. According to the police, people were not leaving the bear that was shot alone.
