Becker County man dies in one-vehicle rollover Friday morning

A 22-year-old Becker County man died this morning after swerving his car to avoid a pedestrian on the highway.

The victim's vehicle rolled on Becker County 35, two miles south of Highway 113.

The Becker County Sheriff's Office said the victim "swerved to avoid a pedestrian, lost control of his Dodge Avenger and overturned violently."

Authorities said the victim likely was not wearing a seat belt. The accident, which occurred just after 10:30 a.m., remains under investigation.

Units from Becker County, Elbow Lake, White Earth, Carsonville and Naytahwaush responded. The victim died at the scene.
