Barry Blanchard, 64, of Osage died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at his home in Osage.
Barry Lee Blanchard was born Oct. 28, 1948 to Thomas and Shirley (Roberts) Blanchard in Park Rapids and grew up in Osage. He graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1966. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1971.
He started his Minnesota law enforcement career working for Becker County and then worked for Hubbard County Sheriffs Department retiring after 20 plus years of service.
In May of 1983 he married Patricia Lueth in Lake George and lived on Potato Lake. Later he moved to Osage where he has resided since.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge, NRA, Ducks Unlimited and Otto Henderson Post 212 American Legion.
He taught gun safety. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, feeding the deer and turkeys and just being in the outdoors.
He is survived by his son, Ryan of Vadnais Heights; sister, Sonnie Jacobson of Richmond; brother, Gene Blanchard of Osage; step-daughter, Lisa Willms of Little Canada; nieces and nephews, Sheila, Penny, Terri, Randy; former wife, Patricia Blanchard of Shoreview; as well as many cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3 at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Park Rap-ids.
Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
