Balanced scoring lifts Menahga boys to back-to-back wins over PR-B, B-H

     Back-to-back wins lifted the Menahga boys basketball team’s record to 8-5.

     Balanced scoring helped the Braves follow a 67-61 win over Pine River-Backus Monday night with a 68-49 Park Region Conference win over Bertha-Hewitt Tuesday night.

Schwartz leads Braves past B-H

     Austen Schwartz scored 23 points and had five assists while Bob Lusti scored 17 points and had three steals in leading the Braves past Bertha-Hewitt.

     Austin Rudquist had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Calvin Taylor also pulled down 10 rebounds. Aaron Hrdlicka had eight rebounds and Levi Schwartz had seven rebounds for the Braves.

     The win lifted Menahga to 4-2 in the conference while the Bears fell to 1-5 in the conference and 1-12 overall.

Balance leads Braves past PR-B

     Four players scored in double figures in leading the Braves past Pine River-Backus.

     Austen Schwartz led the way with 16 points, four assists and four steals while Levi Schwartz had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Rudquist chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds and Jacob Kicker added 12 points.

     Zach Struss’ 19 points and 11 rebounds led PR-B, which fell to 0-10.

Henning defeats Braves

     Henning defeated Menahga 62-33 in a conference game on Jan. 9.

     Austen Schwartz (11) and Rudquist (10) scored in double figures to lead the Braves.

     Henning is now 5-1 in the conference and 9-5 overall.

Braves rout rival Trojans

     Austen Schwartz scored 16 points and had four assists while Rudquist had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds to go along with three steals in leading the Braves to a 75-39 conference win over Sebeka on Jan. 3.

     Darien Mickelson also hit double figures with 10 points for Menahga.

     Sebeka is now 0-6 in conference play and 2-9 overall.
