Balanced scoring leads Flyers past Panthers

Tyler George and Lorenzo Pemberton sparked pivotal runs in the first half that broke open a tie game and led Bagley to a 91-57 victory over the Park Rapids boys basketball team Tuesday night at the Area High School gym.

With the game tied at 12-12, George hit a pair of 3-pointers during a 23-11 run and Pemberton followed with a pair of layups during a 12-0 run as Bagley claimed a 47-25 lead at the half.

Three more baskets by George and a layup and 3-pointer by Kris Skersick to open the second half pushed the lead to 67-36 as the Flyers coasted to the win.

Bagley never trailed in the game, but a layup by Christian Ridlon, a 3-pointer by Taylor Kimball, putbacks by Josh Crist and Christopher Goplerud, and a layup by Kimball tied the game at 12-12 with 11:20 to play in the first half.

A layup by Skersick and a 3-pointer by George gave the Flyers a lead they would not relinquish, but a jumper by Crist, two baskets by Tyler Ridlon, a 3-pointer by Kimball, and two layups by Christian Ridlon kept the Panthers within 35-25 with 2:59 to play in the opening half.

Two baskets and a pair of free throws by Pemberton helped Bagley end the half with a 12-0 run.

The Flyers increased the lead to 51-25 and maintained at least a 24-point advantage the rest of the way.

Christian Ridlon's three inside baskets, a basket off a rebound by Goplerud, and two 3-pointers and a jumper by Tyler Ridlon kept the Panthers within 67-43 with 9:10 to play.

Marcus Malterud scored twice off rebounds and George converted a three-point play as the Flyers pushed their lead to 75-45 with 7:52 left.

Kimball scored off a steal and hit two jumpers, Kyle Goplerud and Chris Goplerud hit jump shots, and Scott Wolff hit a jumper to cap off the scoring for the Panthers.

George finished with 18 points to lead five Bagley players in double figures. The win lifted Bagley to 5-1 on the season.

Kimball scored 17 points, Christian Ridlon had 14 points and Tyler Ridlon scored 12 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals to lead the Panthers, who fell to 1-6.
