Authorities arrest man linked to abduction
Authorities have arrested a 23-year-old man accused of abducting a woman and holding her against her will for two days.
Anoka County, Minn., Sheriff's Lt. Paul Sommer said the 25-year-old woman, who was abducted in Fargo, was sexually assaulted and tortured and has injuries consistent with her report.
The woman told police on Sunday that Shawntas Turnage, who was known to her, abducted her from Fargo and brought her to several addresses in Anoka County before leaving her unattended at an address in Fridley, Minn., where she was able to flee and run to a nearby location and call for help, a news release said.
The woman is now recovering from her injuries, Sommer said.
The suspect's wife also witnessed some of the crimes, Sommer said. Authorities believe Turnage specifically targeted the woman based on his past contact with her.
Minnesota court records indicate that Turnage was convicted in Hennepin County of first-degree aggravated robbery in 2008 and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm in 2004.
