Audubon man sentenced for robbing cash register
Jared Nathan Danielson, 19, of 12682 Dorff Beach Road, Audubon has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of simple robbery.
According to court records, on Jan. 25 he walked behind the counter at Orton's convenience store in Audubon and tried to open the cash register. He couldn't open it so he ordered an employee there to do so, then fled with the contents.
He ran to his car, which was parked a ways away, and was arrested a short time later. He admitted to the robbery and told the officer the money was in a pouch behind the driver's seat. There was $260 there.
On Tuesday, District Judge Peter Irvine sentenced him to 23 months in prison, execution of sentence stayed 10 years. He was placed on supervised probation for 10 years. He must serve 60 days in jail, with credit for time served. STS privileges were granted. He was fined $50 plus court costs and ordered to get a diagnostic assessment.
