Arts museum adopts new name
The Nemeth Art Center, formerly titled North Country Museum of Arts, has many things happening this Aug. and Sep.
"Quilts in the Pines", the fourth Biannual Crazy Quilters Exhibit will be displayed Aug. 2-25. There will be over 100 quilts on display in the Great Gallery and four other rooms. An outdoor reception and exhibition in the courtyard will be held Aug. 6 from during regular museum hours. If it rains it will be rescheduled for Aug 13 at the same time. There is also a queen sized quilt titled 'Woodland Sunset' being raffled. Bring your own lunch at noon to hear a presentation on quilting topics.
The Good Life Café, downtown Park Rapids, hosts the First Annual Member's Show. Anyone who signs up for a membership to the Nemeth Art Center will be able to participate in the Members Only Show, to display your artwork. The exhibit as well as the reception will be held at the café. The opening reception will be held Aug. 25 from 7-10 p.m., and the exhibit will be from Aug. 25-Sep. 29. All members of the Art Center who have created or collected works of art are welcome to participate. This event is a fund-raising event for the Art Center. A portion of ticket sales as well as 20% of all art sales will be donated to the Nemeth Art Center. The deadline for entry is Aug. 6. Refreshments will be served.
"For Art Thou the Key" is the next exhibit on the agenda. There will be a reception, the date and time of which has yet to be announced. This exhibit features a collection of 2D artwork by Melanie Joy Bacon.
"The Nigerian Exhibit", Aug. 30-Sep. 29, features an entire collection of Nigerian-style artworks.
