Arrests made, stolen property recovered in Motley area
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on 11-13-2013, Cass County deputies went to a residence in rural Motley, MN in Meadowbrook Township after receiving a tip that a female party was at the location with active arrest warrants. At the residence, deputies observed a male flee into a camper trailer on the property. A short while later, the male’s identity was confirmed as Carl Raba, age 43, of Deerwood MN and he was taken in custody. The female with active arrest warrants, Celeste Nelson, age 31 of Brainerd MN, was also located at the residence and taken into custody.
While at this location, deputies observed several items of suspected stolen property. These items matched descriptions of property that had recently been reported as stolen in the Outing MN area that the Sheriff’s Office was investigating. A search warrant was obtained and several items of suspected stolen property, including ATVs, a Camper Trailer, trailers, tools and several hundred items of additional property were seized. Suspected methamphetamine was also located and seized. The Sheriff’s Office is in the process of returning stolen property to its rightful owners. A large percentage of the property has been identified and returned.
Sheriff Burch reminds all residents to secure their belongings and to have an inventory of items, including serial numbers, as this is very helpful in identifying your property in the unfortunate event that you are victim of a burglary or theft.
The investigation continues and formal charges are pending.
