Army reservist is home for the holidays
Melody Boettcher will be spending the holidays with her family this year, the sound of Christmas carols replacing rockets and mortars.
Her role has changed from postal clerk in Baghdad to chief cook and potty trainer at her Park Rapids home. Administration specialist Boettcher is now being addressed as "honey" and "mom." No salutes are necessary.
"I've stepped back into my life," she said of her return at the end of September, her deployment spanning 17 months.
Daughter Kylie, 9, stepson Jordan, 11, and soon-to-be-3 Sarah welcomed her home.
