Alleged murder of 66-year-old vet has 'shaken the whole county'
NLEY, N.D. — Sherry Midstokke, 60, is being held in Cass County Jail on $500,000 cash bond in connection with the suspicious death of her husband Monday morning.The body of Lyle Midstokke, 66, was discovered in a bedroom of their home shortly after she placed a 911 call at about 7:30 a.m. Monday, according to Steele Sheriff Wayne Beckman. He said he expected homicide charges to be filed later today.An autopsy was performed in Grand Forks Tuesday. However, the sheriff doesn't expect results for several days.
No court dates had been set as of 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Lyle Midstokke, a Vietnam veteran who grew up in the county, was well-liked in the community.
"It's very shocking," Beckman said. "It's shaken the whole county."
The sheriff declined to release any more details in the case.
The investigation is continuing by the sheriff's office and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal investigation.
