Allan was born June 16, 1927 in Brookings, S.D., the son of Alfred and Bertha (Christianson) Pearson. He graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1945. He attended Denver University, where he graduated with a major in accounting and a minor in business law. Upon graduation Allan was commissioned in the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant. While in the Air Force, Allan received his masters in factory management from Pittsburgh University in Pennsylvania.

He married Beverly Franks Sept. 8, 1949. Together they spent 20 years traveling with the Air Force while he worked as an auditor. After retiring from the military at the rank of Major, he was employed at Honeywell for another 20 years doing the same overseer work.

An educator at heart, Allan saw to it that his grandson Dylan was computer savvy in the days before most students knew that an apple could be something other than what they would give to a teacher.

The past 20 plus years he spent "prettifying" the land he and Beverly summered on in Park Rapids. Many evenings were spent working on jigsaw puzzles, it was probably the auditor in him that made him the "blob master" while the puzzles unfolded.

An avid reader Allan devoured mystery, sci-fi, fantasy and world news. He was in his glory while forming and sharing opinions with friends and relatives. He passed on his passion for reading to his children, grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Allan will be remembered as a gentle man who always doffed his cap upon entering a building, greeting folks by name and smiling while he turned a pun for fun.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Pearson; daughter, Sharlene (Rollie) Jacobsen of Park Rapids; son, Larry (Tanja and daughter Miriam) Pearson of Ratingen, Germany; and one grandchild, Dylan (Regan) Jacobsen of Madison, Wis.; sisters-in-law, LaMae James of Park Rapids, Virginia (Bill) Guegel of Park Rapids, Lola Matson of Moorhead; brother-in-law, Dick Anderson of Fergus Falls; and many well-loved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Pearson; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie (Franks) Town and Charlotte (Franks) Anderson; and brother-in-law, Don Town.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids.

Visitation: one hour prior to service.

Interment: Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's or Heritage Living Center or the Friends of the Library.
