Alfred Lee Hughes, 74, of Maple Grove, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at his home from cancer.

Alfred was born June 8, 1939 to Joseph and Hilma (Harstad) Hughes in Savannah Township. He graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1957.

He went to work at Graco Manufacturing in Minneapolis.

Alfred was united in marriage to Diane Williams Dec. 22, 1960. He retired from Graco after 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking and was a master at small engine repair.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, of Maple Grove; children, Deborah Lindahl of Maple Grove and Robert Hughes of Buffalo; five granddaughters, Ashley (Alex) Clifford, Karen and Kelly Hughes, Jacque and Meghan Hughes; siblings, Hilma Mae (Cliff) Wright of Bow, Wash., Helen (AJ) Pfeifer of Park Rapids, Nancy (Greg) Tigue of Dilworth and Joanne (Rick) Wright of Park Rapids; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, J. Wesley and Melvin; three sisters, infant (Pansy), Ethel Massie and Tilda McComas.

Memorial service: was held Thursday, Feb. 20 at Kozlak-Radulovich Maple Grove Chapel.
