Alert deputy stops wanted man; arrest leads to huge quantity of meth seized
A traffic stop last week in Hubbard County yielded a significant quantity of meth and the arrest of a White Earth man wanted for another crime.
A quick-thinking drug officer spotted Steven Ray Greenfeather, 28, driving south of Park Rapid.
The officer was aware of an outstanding felony warrant issued from Backer County for the suspect, who was driving a car with South Dakota plates.
Greenfeather was pursued up County Road 6 and was apprehended when he pulled into the Walmart parking lot and was blocked by a police vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded 107.2 grams of methamphetamine.
"It's the most meth I've seen since I took office," Hubbard County Attorney Don Dearstyne said. He took office in 2007.
Greenfeather is in custody in Hubbard County.
A new warrant was issued by Becker County for his arrest after he failed to appear Jan. 23 in that county on a Criminal Vehicular Operation conviction that dates to 2010.
An omnibus hearing is set in Hubbard County District Court for Jan. 28.
