Books, big diggies, treasure hunts, snacks, music, puppy playtime, smoothies and more are on the agenda during the Week of the Young Child April 23-28 in Park Rapids.

Kids 5 and under are invited to grab an adult and head to area businesses for Adventures Around Town.

n Kids can learn about trees and take one home at Tree Talk at Park Rapids Forest and Floral Monday. The talks will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m.

n The Park Rapids Area Library will host a family treasure hunt from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday; 9:30 to 4 p.m. Friday and 10:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

n Coborn's will offer Fun with Frosting from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday.

n Tuesday's fun and frolics include demos at Itasca-Mantrap. The electrical co-op will haul out the big machines, providing digger truck, bucket truck and pole climbing demos at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

n Headwaters Intervention Center invites kids to make a button from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

n Kids can make their own trail mix from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's WIC, 323 Main Ave. South.

n Beyond Juice invites kids to make a smoothie from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

n Thursday, kids can make bookmarks at Book World from 10 a.m. to noon.

n Puppy playtime and coloring are offered from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Headwaters Animal Shelter Thursday.

n Friday, head to Northwoods Bank to design your own cube savings bank from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

n Kids can plant, color, eat snacks and enter names for drawings at TruStar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

n Paul Nye will be strummin' the old guitar at 10 a.m. Friday at Frank White Education Center, PALS and Mahube hosting the children's musician.

n Beagle Books invites kids to add poems to the "poet tree" from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday.

n Citizens National Bank will be the site of Tootsie Pop flowerpots from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday.

n Saturday, J&B Foods invites kids to make healthy snacks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
