Adeline "Addie" M. Ness, 74, of Park Rapids, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at her home near Park Rapids.

Adeline Marian Rude was born on the family homestead at Pine Lake, Dec. 8, 1938 to Antone and Gunhild (Mosby) Rude.

She was raised on the homestead at Pine Lake and attended the local country school and then Gonvick High School.

She was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Ness June 12, 1954. They moved to Silver Bay where he worked in the taconite mines.

In 1959, the couple moved to Fosston. There they purchased the local Standard Oil station, the first of many businesses.

In 1961, they moved to Park Rapids where they purchased a second Standard Oil Station.

In 1969, they purchased Weaver Motors, changing the name to Ness Motors. They owned the Chrysler dealership for over 30 years. Through the years the couple participated in many business ventures in Park Rapids, including Ness Motors (Park Rapids and Wadena), H&N Distributing, Skelgas, Northland Feed & Seed (partnership with Dick's brothers Andy and Brad), Northland Lumber, Western Trailer Sales, Ness Trucking and Silver Star City.

She and her daughter Marcy co-owned Craft-World and also Chantilly Place stores on Main street in Park Rapids. Although she enjoyed many business endeavors and was Dad's secretary for many years, it was her family that brought her total fulfillment.

Addie enjoyed ceramics, bowling, cooking, sewing, entertaining & time spent with her grandkids.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, the Eastern Star and the Eagles Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Kimbra Ness of St. Michael, Richard "Ritchie" Ness Jr. of Park Rapids and Angela Ness Byer of Park Rapids; 13 grandchildrenBrad, Kelsey, Rachel, Adam, Erika, Kiley, Emily, Rebekka, Tom, Sam, Brett, VaNessa and Alyssa; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Nelson of Park Rapids; and brother, Tony (Annie) Rude of Monticello.

Funeral service: 1 p.m. Wednesday July 10, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. Pastor Stephen Norby is the officiant.

Visitation: 11 a.m. until service time at Calvary Lutheran Church.

Interment: Greenwood Cemetery of Park Rapids.
