86-year-old Detroit Lakes woman injured after being struck by van
A Detroit Lakes woman was injured after being hit by a van backing out of a handicapped space at St. Mary's Innovis hospital.
Dorothy June Grabow, 86, of Detroit Lakes was walking eastbound in the parking lot when she was struck by a 1999 Chevy van.
She suffered injuries to her head, lower back and hip, and was transported by St. Mary's EMS to St. Mary's Innovis Hospital.
Even though the accident occurred in the hospital parking lot, an ambulance was used, apparently in order to provide the proper neck and back support for moving an elderly person.
The Chevy van was driven by Betty Jane Klomstad, 86, of Detroit Lakes. The two parties involved did not see each other.
The accident was reported at 10:50 a.m. Friday.

A 55-year-old Perham woman lost control of her motorcycle on a curve and laid the bike down. She suffered "road rash" and other minor injuries and was treated at the hospital in Park Rapids, according to Becker County Sheriff Tim Gordon. Her name was not available Tuesday.
-- Gordon also reported an accident at the YMCA camp on Cormorant lake. A 50-year-old Fargo woman essentially ran over herself in the parking lot. She was backing up and bent over to retrieve an item that had fallen out of the car. The car was still in gear and she was knocked down and a tire skimmed her, causing minor injuries, Gordon said.
