4-year-old Fargo boy dies in pool accident
GRAND FORKS - Four-year-old Tayton Fitterer of Fargo, who was found unresponsive in a Grand Forks motel swimming pool Saturday, has died, according to police, who revealed new details of the case Tuesday.
The boy had apparently been playing with siblings while an adult relative watched at the Budget Inn Express. He, the siblings and their mother were visiting from Fargo.
At some point the relative noticed that Tayton was floating in the pool and unresponsive, according to the police report. He was pulled from the pool and CPR was started. Dispatchers were contacted about 8:10 p.m.
Emergency responders took over resuscitation efforts and took the boy to Altru Hospital before he was taken to Fargo's Sanford Medical Center, previously known as MeritCare Hospital.
He died Monday night and has been brought back to Grand Forks for an autopsy, according to police, who also said the investigation continues.
