2011 Park Rapids homecoming king and queen
Seniors Scott Smith and Katie Just have been named 2011 Park Rapids Homecoming king and queen.
The seniors were crowned Monday morning at a ceremony at Park Rapids Area High School. The program featured entertainment by student musicians who played several pieces including a rendition of the classic rock song "Freebird."
The rest of the Homecoming royal court was also dressed up and presented Monday morning. The royal court included freshmen Kendra Anderson and Isaac Overmyer, sophomores Mady Vaudrin and Josh Severtson, juniors Amber Booge and Zach Nash, and seniors Zoe Reich, Allie Bade, Dylan Larsen and Caleb Abraham.
Students are dressed in unusual garb most of the week for dress-up days.
Monday was twin/Disney/hat day.
Tuesday was parents' closet day.
Wednesday is whacked-up Wednesday.
Thursday is retro day.
Friday is community orange and black day. Century School is participating in orange and black day as well.
Friday events for students include a car decorating contest and powder puff football for girls. After the game will be a pep fest followed by a parade at about 2 p.m. from the school through downtown Park Rapids.
The Homecoming football game is at 7 p.m. Friday against Detroit Lakes at the Park Rapids Area High School football field. The community is invited to cheer for the Panthers during Friday's football game.
