The 2011 enterprise fund budget for Park Rapids is looking similar to 2010 with the exception of increased revenue from a storm water utility.

Enterprise funds include the airport, water, sewer, liquor store, storm water and the public works/safety building.

Angela Brumbaugh, city treasurer, said the airport is typically supplemented with liquor store funds to balance the budget. The main costs for the airport include land rental and utility projects.

The public works department has asked for a sprayer to help combat noxious weeds that have been an issue every year.

The water fund is expected to have an income of $310,256 for 2011. Brumbaugh said that fund is under budget this year.

The sewer fund typically has more expenditures than revenues because of depreciation, Brumbaugh said.

"There's not a lot of changes there," she said.

The projected income loss for the sewer fund in 2011 is $171,948.

The public works/safety building fund is also projected to have a loss of $36,648.

The liquor store generally makes a profit, with $158,496 estimated for 2011.

The city-owned liquor store, Rapid Spirits, supplements many areas of the city budget each year.

The city's Truth in Taxation hearing was scheduled for Tuesday night to discuss the entire city budget and levy.

The maximum amount the city could levy for 2011 is $1,482,245, up from the 2010 maximum of $1,406,032.

The estimated Local Government Aid for 2011 is $451,727 but LGA has been cut the last few years making it difficult for cities to rely on for budgeting purposes.

The final budget needs to be set in December and could be lowered from what was originally proposed.
