2 arrested in Beltrami County armed robbery
On Friday, December 30, 2011, at 9:08 PM, the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of an armed robbery that just occurred at a business located on the 13000 block of Irvine Ave N, in Turtle Lake Township, Beltrami County. Two suspects wearing ski masks, one armed with a sawed off shotgun and the second suspect brandishing a knife, robbed the business. The suspects fled with cash taken in the robbery in a pickup truck (later determined to have been stolen this same evening from an apartment complex in Bemidji) in a northerly direction.
Deputies immediately began searching for the vehicle. The truck was spotted on a side road by a responding deputy approximately 1 1/2 miles northwest of the business. The two suspects were seen exiting the vehicle, both running east into the woods.
A Beltrami County Deputy/K9 unit along with other Deputies began tracking the suspects in a northeasterly direction. Several Red Lake Tribal Officers, with an additional K9 unit, as well as a Minnesota State Patrol Trooper arrived in the area to assist.
Beltrami County Dispatchers notified residents in the immediate area to lock their doors and remain inside while the search ensued.
At 10:14 PM, the suspects were tracked to a location in a wooded area located in the 17000 block of Puposky Rd NW (approximately 10 miles north of Bemidji) and arrested without incident.

The case has been forwarded to the Beltrami County Attorney's Office for consideration to include aggravated robbery, felony theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault and other charges.
According to information from the Red Lake Tribal Police Department, other armed robberies involving sawed off shotguns have occurred in their area this week. The two in custody in Beltrami County are persons of interests in their cases.
