Shannon Barnett Web Design, LLC, has provided an opportunity for Barnett to work from home.

She has worked on web sites for Itascatur Ski, Bike, Run club, Piks Clicks and Fabulous Funtography and the Hubbard County Regional Economic Development Commission among others.

The variety of organizations and businesses she works with is part of the appeal.

“I like to learn about some of the different things people do with their organizations or businesses,” she said.

Each website she works on is individualized.

“Everything is done from the ground up and I take into account what the needs and wants are for each client,” Barnett said.

She is also able to restructure an old website and provide maintenance.

“I try to be mindful that not everyone understands web jargon and make sure they get what they want,” she said. “It’s their project and so I need a lot of input to make sure it’s meeting their needs.”

The final product is the client’s so she wants them to be able to have creative control.

A perk of the job is being able to work from home or on the road. All she needs is her computer.

So far, she’s gotten business through word of mouth.

The Internet is utilized on a daily basis by many people and having a web presence is important, Barnett said. A service she provides is Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

“Whether I build the site or not, I can optimize a website for higher ranking in search engines,” she said.

She is also able to provide social media management and website promotion through Twitter and Facebook.

“It’s kind of a unique service,” Barnett said of web design and promotion. “Everybody has their Smart phones and it’s about trying to make sure they can find you when they search for menus, details and prices.”
